Lace is not only our favorite guilty obsession, but also of many designers. To prove you that we are right and help you with some inspiration, we did the research for you and put together a list of designers that absolutely loved lace for their Spring Summer and Fall Winter 2016/2017 collections.
Rodarte
Rodarte is first on our list. We loved the way they used the lace for their pieces. In their Spring Summer 2016 collection the accent falls on dresses, long or knee-length, with floral patterns and precious insertions. The Fall collection though promotes a more nonconformist moderns meets classic mix. Kate and Laura Mulleavy declared that this collection was inspired by the poets Emily Dickinson and Elizabeth Barett Browning’s styles.
Valentino
Valentino’s Spring Summer 2016 Ready-to-Wear is a tribute to the great inspiration Africa provided to Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, the creative directors of the house. Cornrow braided hair and the peacock feathers were absolute musts added to the gorgeous lace adorned outfits. Their Fall Winter collection is totally opposed to the Spring Summer one. It is delicate and it encourages you to slow down and enjoy life by living in the moment, away from the digital life. The shiny details add an extra touch of luxurious finesse.
Ermanno Scervino
Italian edgy and contemporary are the perfect expressions for describing how Ermanno Scervino’s Spring Summer 2016 collection plays with fabrics. Long and slim lines mixed with a crisp feeling and masculine touch make these creations unforgettable and charming. Evening lace dresses are signature pieces in the Fall Winter 2016. Their artistry and simplicity would make any woman feel gracious and stylish.
Céline
Céline’s Summer 2016 is a declaration of elegant boldness in white and black playing on both masculine and feminine designs and shapes. Phoebe Philo perfectly put together silk and chevrons of lace for an extra lavish effect.
Gucci
The one that played the most with colors though is Gucci’s house designer Alessandro Michele. Green, red and lilac are only few of the lace colors you can find in their Spring Summer 2016 collection. The Fall one uses lace mostly only for adding black accents to the very colorful or even all black outfits.
Oscar de la Renta
Although not missing the black and white lace in the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2016 collection, we liked more the yellow, green and red choices. Spanish inspiration, raw-edged ruffles, small floral prints, beds and sequins are all elements of the beautiful creations of Peter Copping, the Creative Director of the brand. The Ready to Wear Fall 2016 collection projects a more autumnal image. Toile de Jouy lace seems to be the preferred one in shades of Bordeaux and black.
Dolce and Gabbana
The last one that caught and enchanted our eyes is Dolce and Gabbana. The Summer 2016 Sparkling Light is a brilliant homage to sumptuous hot party nights in lovely pistachio, nudes and white shades. The entire Fall collection makes you dream of a fairies and princesses’ land far away from reality where everything can become true and no combination is too out of this world. Even if the lace is all black, it adds an exquisite and dazzling note to all the Dolce and Gabbana looks.
