Designers of a Spring 2014 ready to wear Valentino collection Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli took there inspiration from classic opera. More particularly from 1969 film Medea by Pier Paolo Pasolini and the role of Maria Callas.
And like Dolce&Gabbana you can see the influence of Ancient Greece here… Only this time everything is mixed up with other traditional motives (Egiptian? African?) and fused with bright and contrast colors on dark and elegant backgrounds.
Dark and mysterious silhouettes are unusual for Spring gowns… But it makes color patterns seem even brighter and accentuates these details.
Here’re some french lace dresses from this collection. And take notice of the bold combinations of colored laces!
Laces used in this collection are made by Beauvillain Davoine.
